Most standard Wedding Insurance policies are not ideal to cover Asian Weddings or Shaadis. The vast majority are geared to the typical western wedding of one wedding ceremony and one reception. Many Asian wedding celebrations, however, involve more ceremonies such as Roka, Shagan & Chunni Shada, Mehndi and Sangeet. Shaadi's also tend to take place over a longer period of time and can require a higher level of cancellation cover in order to financially protect these celebrations.
Some wedding insurance providers will allow you, through special agreement with underwriters, to cover more events and the higher potential cancellation costs of Asian weddings. This can take time to coordinate, get agreement and invariably involve an additional premium to pay for the extra cover.
A much simpler option is just to buy directly from Asian Wedding Insurance. This wedding insurance product has been specially created to meet the needs of Asian couples getting married. The policy automatically allows couples to insure up to 6 wedding events (including the wedding ceremony and main wedding reception) over a total period of 94 days, far more than most standard wedding insurance products allow.
Asian Wedding Insurance has a choice of policies each with different levels of cancellation and other sections: Pearl has £15,000 of cancellation cover, Sapphire has £30,000 of cancellation cover and Ruby has £50,000 of cancellation cover. For an additional premium the Ruby level of cancellation cover can be extended to £100,000.
The Asian Wedding Insurance policy also has optional extensions to cover marquees including mandaps and increased public liability, required by some venues.
