We often receive enquiries from couples asking if the public liability on Dreamsaver Wedding Insurance extends to cover paid for entertainment, such as bands or DJs.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide liability cover for any of your professional service suppliers under the Dreamsaver policy.
The reason they are not covered by the policy is that they are part of the paid professional services like the venue or caterers, and as such they should have their own liability.
The third party liability cover under the standard policy covers the bride and groom against being sued for bodily injury or property damage to third parties i.e. people and their property, up to a limit of £2m. This limit can be extended to £5m with the payment of an additional premium if required. You will need to check with your venue to see if this is needed.
The public liability cover can also be extended to cover the liability of your guests while at the event with the payment of an additional premium. If guests are also going to provide entertainment, such as being part of a band, however, then this cover would only cover them while in their capacity as guest not while they are performing.
We also have a standalone liability cover product in case you have purchased wedding insurance elsewhere that cannot be extended to cover your guests.
If you are purchasing Dreamsaver wedding insurance for a wedding abroad please note that we cannot extend the policy to cover public liability for your guests. If you are having your wedding in the USA or Canada there in no cover for public liability at all.
Dreamsaver Wedding Insurance can be purchased up to 24 months in advance of the ceremony date is available to cover weddings with up to £50,000 of cancellation cover. Prices start from just £25 for £6,000 of cancellation cover and are available to buy online from www.weddinginsurance.co.uk
