While you are unlikely to want to cancel your wedding day for any reason, if you or a close relative have a medical condition the risk of this occurring due to illness is potentially increased. So what medical conditions are covered by Dreamsaver wedding insurance?
We like to keep things simple at Dreamsaver so, unlike some of our competitors; there is no long list of conditions that are not covered by our wedding insurance policy. However, we do have a brief medical declaration which asks 2 questions:
- Have any of you been given a terminal prognosis?
- Are any of you on a waiting list for in-patient treatment or investigation or awaiting the results of tests or investigations?
These two questions have to be answered not only in respect of the bride and groom but also any close relatives (as defined in the policy wording ) upon whom the wedding relies; for instance if the father of the bride fell ill shortly before the wedding then going ahead with it could be deemed inappropriate.
If you can answer ‘No’ to both these questions then any medical conditions you or a family member may have will be covered by the Dreamsaver policy. Be aware that some of our competitor's policies do not cover any medical conditions whatsoever, so bear this in mind when comparing wedding cover.
If you or a relative is undergoing medical investigation at the time of taking out the policy, there would be no cover for cancellation or rearrangement related to the medical condition while the investigation is on-going; this is simply because underwriters don't know what they are insuring. In these situations you will receive cover under the other sections of the policy, such as financial failure of wedding suppliers. You may feel it is best to take out the policy and then contact us once the investigation has been completed to see if cover can be provided.
The alternative is to wait until you or your relative have had the investigations before you purchase the policy, although obviously you run the risk of not having insurance in place should anything go wrong.
If you are unsure about cover for your or a family member's medical condition then please call us on 01483 562 662
